Business Process Redesign

Pretium’s Methodology can be employed to achieve step-change improvements in business processes.

With Business Process Redesign you can:

  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in existing business processes
  • Eliminate unnecessary work and process steps through function analysis.
  • Greatly increase business process conformance to requirements
  • Improve the response time of business processes
  • Reduce the cost of business processes
  • Build support among employees for the new business process and significantly ease the change management process

Business Process Redesign begins with definition of desired improvements in business process metrics and creation of an Ideal Vision of the to-be business process. Next, we build a function model of the as-is business process by starting from the current business process flow diagram. The as-is function model is reviewed for correctness with employees who provide input to the business process, employees who work within the business process and employees that receive output from the business process. This review reveals deviations from design and identifies problems faced by the employees that are often unknown to management. Each employee identifies problems they experience with the existing business process. These problems are incorporated into the as-is business function model as harmful functions. TRIZ inventive principles are applied in brainstorming sessions to eliminate or reduce these harmful functions and to resolve any contradictions arising from the harmful functions. The ideas generated are combined into business process improvement concepts.

Business Process Redesign method is applied by conducting facilitated workshops with an experienced Pretium facilitator, Guided Innovation Toolkit software and your Subject Matter Experts. This combination is highly synergistic and results in dramatic increases in the number and quality of ideas generated.
